OVERVIEW:

Telehealth has become an integral part of the healthcare system as it provides patients, healthcare providers, and staff with a flexible option to meet healthcare needs. The use of telehealth proliferated during the COVID-19 pandemic, with regulations and payment structures modified to allow payments to clinicians to provide new ways of care. This course covers telehealth best practices and use cases to transform care delivery by integrating workflows, administrative documentation, and achieving high patient satisfaction.

Target Audience

Primary care practice managers and clinicians who are considering implementing telehealth solutions or have already implemented solutions but are seeking new ways to scale practice patterns.

Tina Gustin, DNP, CNS, RN

Bio:

Dr. Gustin serves as the Associate Professor at Old Dominion University School of Nursing, where she teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program and was appointed as the Co-Director of the school’s Center for Telehealth Innovation, Education, and Research (C-TIER), a telehealth learning hub and research center. She develops certificate programs that assure clinical competence of the telehealth providers, including instruments designed to measure telehealth etiquette knowledge and another that measures team telehealth performance with a focus on communication and etiquette. She has received several Health and Human Services Administration (HRSA) grants, totaling over 6 million dollars, aimed at reaching the rural and underserved though telehealth and interprofessional collaboration.

Dana Mueller, MD, MBA

Bio:

Dr. Mueller is the Vice President of Medicine at Mary’s Center, a FQHC in the District of Columbia serving 65,000 individuals in the metro area. Board Certified in Internal Medicine with an MBA from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Mueller overseas the clinical administration at Mary’s Center and spearheads the clinical transition to telehealth for all medical services lines, developing workflows, documentation models, and billing guidance for the provision of clinical care via telemedicine. Dr. Mueller is a champion of effective technology integration and informatics and is actively involved in practice transformation, serving as a member on the CRISP Stakeholder Engagement Subcommittee.
